Fire/Rescue Operations
Fire
District No. 2 provides fire and rescue response to approximately 14 square
miles of Monroe Township.
Examples of requests for services include:
- Report of smoke/fire in residential, commercial, and farm
structures
- Activated fire alarm systems
- Activated Carbon Monoxide (CO) alarms
- Motor vehicle collisions involving fire, entrapment, or hazardous fluids
- Hazardous materials releases
- Natural gas or explosive atmospheric conditions
- Conditions endangering life or property
District 2 operates with career staffing as the initial response component
and is supplemented by volunteer staff out of the
Applegarth Road Fire Station also known as Station 57.
- Shifts
- Career staff work a 24/72 shift schedule. Staff begin a shift at
0700 hrs and complete the shift the next morning followed by 72 hours off.

- Recalls
- If a larger or prolonged incident occurs during a shift, additional
personnel can be summoned to return to work, if available, as well as
supplemented by the volunteer staffing.

- Mutual-Aid
- District 2 responds to calls for assistance from neighboring towns and
districts. Responses are either protocol or at the request of another
department.
