Incident NewsJune 24, 2007 Station 57, C-shift responded to Monmouth Street in East Windsor for a reported structure fire. Engine 57-1 was first arriving with Engine 46-1 immediately behind. Chief 46 directed crews to initiate a fire attack. While Engine 46-1 deployed a line to the exterior Side B, Engine 57 forced the front door and attacked the interior with a 2.5 inch smooth bore. CLICK HERE for scene photos by C. Rashkin (EWVFC No. 2 Photographer). May 25, 2007 Station 57 responded to 660 Plainsboro Road for a FAST team assignment in Plainsboro for a working strip mall fire. November 6, 2006 Monroe Township Fire Districts 1, 2, and 3 responded at 10:05 pm for a reported vehicle fire in a garage at 55 Linwood Drive located in the Cranbury Crossing development in District 2. Upon arrival, Lt. J. Krajcsovics reported a working structure fire and requested additional responses from Hightstown and Millstone Fire Companies. No civilian or firefighter injuries or fatalities occurred and the origin and cause of fire are currently under investigation. Read the 1st Responder article here. Google video link of video.
August 22, 2006 Monroe Township Fire District #2 firefighters sprang into action after a sedan ran off the road and plunged into the brook adjacent to the fire station at 130 Applegarth Road. Assistant Chief G. Borsuk and Firefighter R. Fenstermaker entered the water and after assessing the driver, assisted the victim from the vehicle without further incident.
August 16, 2006 Monroe Township Fire Districts #2 and #3 responded to a reported mulch and brush fire near the building at 4 South Middlesex Ave. Upon arrival, Engine 23, Tower 57, and Ladder 23 found mulch, grass and bushes on fire near the exterior of a commercial/warehouse structure with exposure to the office areas. A quick knockdown was accomplished without significant further extension into the building and no reported injuries.
March 24, 2006 Monroe Township Fire Districts #1,2, and 3 responded to a possible structure fire located in the Whittingham Community within Fire District #3. Upon arrival, fire units found a smoke and fire condition at a multi-unit dwelling. Additional coverage provided by the Sentinel at No injuries in fire at Whittingham January 3, 2006 Monroe Township Fire Districts #1,2, and 3 responded to a reported structure fire located on Englishtown Road. Woman, 47, dies in fire; cause ruled accidental, Sentinel, January 12, 2006 August 1, 2005 Monroe Township Fire Districts #1,2, and 3 responded to a possible structure fire located in the Clearbrook Community within Fire District #2. Upon arrival, fire units found a heavy smoke and fire condition at a multi-unit dwelling. Further details will be provided upon completion of the investigation. May 27, 2005 Monroe Township Fire Districts #1, 2, and 3 responded to a reported structure fire at Spotswood-Englishtown Road. Upon arrival, Station 51 personnel initiated a defensive attack on a 50' by 50' steel garage structure with heavy fire and smoke showing. Station 57 personnel assisted in extinguishing and overhaul until 5:00 AM and returned to Station 57. Storage building blaze probed, The Cranbury Press, June 3, 2005 April 12, 2005 Monroe Township Fire Districts #1,2,3 responded to a reported garage fire at 220 Cranbury-South River Road. Upon arrival, Engine 23 encountered a fully involved detached garage structure and initiated attack with a handline. Engine 57 arrived after laying a supply from the hydrant on Rt. 535 and proceeded to extinguish the bulk of fire with its deck gun. Photos of the fire are available in the Incident Photos section. December 28, 2005 Monroe Township Fire Districts #1,2, and 3 responded to a reported structure fire at Railroad Salvage located on Englishtown Road. View the Sentinel article here... Blaze attributed to boiler July 6, 2004 Station 57 responded mutual aid to Millstone Township on Route 33 near Perrineville Road. Upon arrival, 57 was detailed to assist with extrication and remove the driver of a Toyota Camry. Firefighters worked to remove the patient that was flown to a Regional Trauma Center by NorthSTAR. The collision involved two passenger cars with one critical injury and one fatality. Photos of the extrication are available in the Incident Photos section. May 14, 2004 Monroe Township District No. 2 responded to the New Jersey Turnpike Southbound at Exit 8A to assist Station 23 (Monroe District No. 3) involving a truck extrication. The driver was pinned at the chest and legs and required the use of hydraulic tools to remove the truck from around the patient. The driver of the medical waste hauling truck was transported to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, NJ by Monroe EMS. May 15, 2004 Station 57 responded mutual aid to East Windsor Township for a multi-alarm fire at the Windmill Apartment complex. Link to Washington Township's website about the fire. Press ReleaseMr. James Carbin III was promoted to hold the position of Chief on July 5th, 2006. Chief Carbin has been with Monroe Township Fire District #2 since 1998 and rose through the ranks from firefighter and is the first career Chief in the history of the Fire District.
