  • PUBLIC NOTICE: SPECIAL MEETING OF THE LEGAL VOTERS

    Monroe Township Fire District #2

    The Board of Fire Commissioners of Monroe Township Fire District #2 hereby notifies the legal voters of the District of a Special Meeting to vote on a critical infrastructure investment for our community.

    Meeting Details

    • Date: Wednesday, April 1, 2026

    • Time: 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM

    • Location: Emergency Services Building, 10 Halsey Reed Road

    Purpose of the Meeting

    The meeting is held to present and vote on the following Public Question:

    “Shall the Board of Fire Commissioners of Monroe Township Fire District #2 be authorized to expend $500,000 from the 2025 Budget Surplus for the purchase of the real property and facility located at 130 Applegarth Road, currently owned by the Applegarth Volunteer Engine Company No. 1, for the express purpose of establishing a Fire District #2 Training Facility?”

    Why This Matters

    • Fiscal Responsibility: This purchase is funded entirely by the 2025 Budget Surplus. There will be no new tax increase and no long-term debt or interest through bonding.

    • Strategic Need: This acquisition secures a dedicated training facility and annex within township limits, allowing local responders to prepare for emergency scenarios without leaving the district.

    • Community Continuity: By acquiring this historic firehouse, we ensure the property remains a public-serving asset rather than being sold for private or commercial redevelopment.

    NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN TO THE LEGAL VOTERS OF MONROE TOWNSHIP FIRE DISTRICT NO. 2 that a fire district election will be held on Saturday, February 21, 2026, between the hours of 2 pm and 9 pm prevailing time. Click here for more information.
